From Hardware to Software
My name is Kathy Anderson, and ourlinktoyou is a web applications and design solutions business I’m starting in my new home, Draper Utah.

Which isn’t to say I’m new to Utah. From the time I received my BS in Chemical Engineering from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah (1997), until the Spring of 2005, I worked at Fairchild Semiconductor’s West Jordan, Utah fab as a Process Engineer making low-voltage power MOSFETs: the very little silicon-based switches that make it possible to power up and operate pretty much any hand or lap-held electronic device without burning up other critical components or draining the battery life.

It was a challenging and rewarding career that didn’t fit with my vision of how to nurture a close relationship with my young son. So I resigned. Doing so without neglecting my son’s physical needs was made possible through the patience and generosity of my loving and supportive husband, David.

After much time spent fruitlessly sending part-time engineering applications to organizations exclusively seeking full time semiconductor (or other) process engineers, I recognized my career needed a new focus. While returning to a university is the logical next step, the return on the investment in my case is only fiscally responsible if I go full time, in which case, if I proceed with that plan, I may as well have not left the semiconductor innovation race in the first place. Ahhh!

Then, early this year, my friends Laura and Mike Moncur gave me a sitepointe book: Build Your Own Web Site the Right Way Using HTML & CSS by Ian Lloyd. In this well written and well referenced introduction, my interest was instantly piqued. My husband, David, aside from being a great listener and pleasure to be married to, is also an Uber (Senior) Software Engineer and all-around techno-geek. He has since provided me with several books, tips, and other resources, and has launched me and ourlinktoyou into business.

Ourlinktoyou is already committed to two projects, and is always open to scheduling more. As this developing business portfolio expands, a link to each client’s completed and/or ongoing page will be accessible through ourlinktoyou’s home.

I’m always looking for high quality, helpful web development and web gadget sites to link to. Please feel free to write and ask ourolinktoyou to link to you!
